Ruth Bryant, LCSW

Welcome, and thank you for visiting my website. I hope the information offered here will give you a good sense of who I am and how I work as well as answer some of your initial questions.

Life can feel overwhelming at times — whether from a painful loss, a shift in relationships, or an old trauma that still lingers. You may find yourself stuck in patterns you can’t quite change or struggling to navigate transitions in your relationships, work, or phase of life.

I provide a warm, steady space where together we can explore what feels unmanageable and move toward clarity, strength, and a greater sense of wellbeing.

Who I Work With
I specialize in helping people who are ready to engage in honest self reflection and pursue a deeper dive into what is keeping them from feeling whole. My clients are often:

  • Moving through life transitions — such as job changes, parenthood/pregnancy/infertility, navigating adult relationships with parents or in-laws, divorce, empty nest adjustment, or loss.
  • Seeking more fulfilling relationships and working to unravel codependency, hyper-independence, or other unhelpful patterns of relating.
  • Processing unresolved trauma or family-of-origin issues.
  • Working to better manage anxiety, stress, or feelings of overwhelm.
  • Learning to live with grief and find new meaning.

My Approach
I approach our work with warmth and curiosity — with an interest in your current challenges and in their root causes — helping you to understand a broad picture and set you on a path for lasting change.

I draw from psychodynamic and attachment-based theories, as well as from my advanced training in trauma treatment (including EMDR) and modern analytic group therapy. I am naturally interested in how your past may be affecting your present, and I believe wholeheartedly in people’s ability to learn new ways of being and move forward in life. I have an active style of relating that is ultimately warm, thoughtful, and engaged.

Individual and Group Therapy

  • Individual Therapy: Individual sessions (50 minutes) are scheduled weekly (or sometimes bi-weekly) and are focused on creating deeper insight and change.
  • Group Therapy: Groups (which meet weekly for 90 minutes) offer a powerful, supportive way to improve relationships, increase self-understanding, and grow alongside others. Groups are closed interpersonal process groups (not support groups) and are capped at 8 or 10 participants. Clients recommended for group have already spent time in individual therapy and may continue that work alongside their group work.

In Person and Telehealth
I see clients both in my Nashville office and via secure telehealth for anyone located in Tennessee.

If you’re ready to take the next step, I’d be glad to talk with you about what you’re looking for and whether we might be a good fit. Reach out today to schedule a phone consultation.
